If it does not light up after the first time, you may need to trim your candle wick (trim the black burnt ashy part) to just over half a centimetre. We use a wick trimmer but a pair of scissors or nail clippers will do the job. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is not the wood fueling your candle flame but the wax. The flame is drawing the wax upwards through the wick so if it's not trimmed short and clean, the wax can't make it to the flame. Always trim the wick when the wax is cool to avoid bits of ash or wick left in the wax. After trimming, clean off gently any charred bits .\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBurn the candle for at least 1-2 hours to allow the wax to pool to the edges of the jar. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSafety first.
